Senior Accounts Payable

Join a family owned Oil & Gas company as a Senior Accounts Payable professional, where your expertise will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of financial operations. This is an individual contributor role that has the potential to evolve into a management position, offering the opportunity for growth and leadership within the organization.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison between internal departments and external vendors, fostering effective communication and relationships.
  • Lead a dedicated team in optimizing accounts payable processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing best practices.
  • Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, from invoice receipt to payment, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Manage approximately 300 invoices per week, with the expectation of increasing to 500-1000 invoices per week.
  • Work closely with outsourced accounting partners, coordinating efforts and ensuring alignment.
  • Conduct regular quality checks on processed invoices and payments, promptly addressing any errors or discrepancies.
  • Manage files for check runs and ACH payments on a weekly basis, adhering to net 30 terms.
  • Collaborate with the AP team and field personnel to streamline processes and resolve any issues or concerns.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in oil and gas accounting, with a deep understanding of industry-specific practices and regulations.
  • Experience using Ogsys and DocVue is highly preferred, demonstrating proficiency in relevant software applications.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization abilities, capable of managing multiple tasks effectively.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to provide direction, training, and mentorship to team members.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and addressing process improvements, driving efficiency and effectiveness within the accounts payable function.
