Information Technology System Administrator

Our client, an esteemed legal firm headquartered in Houston, is currently seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator to join their team. As the IT Systems Administrator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and reliable operation of the Firm’s computer systems. Your primary responsibilities will revolve around the maintenance, configuration, and dependable functioning of computer systems, network servers, networks, and virtualization. Additionally, you will handle various other duties, including:

  • Installing and upgrading computer components and software, while also managing virtual servers and integrating automation processes.
  • Swiftly troubleshooting hardware and software errors by conducting diagnostics, documenting issues and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing their impact.
  • Providing comprehensive documentation and technical specifications to the IT staff for the purpose of planning and implementing new IT infrastructure or upgrades.
  • Carrying out regular backup operations and establishing appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
  • Assisting with desktop and helpdesk support efforts, ensuring timely resolution of desktop application, workstation, and related equipment issues with minimal disruptions.
  • Taking responsibility for capacity planning, storage management, and database performance.

To be considered for this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in network administration, system administration, or a related field, accompanied by an Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related discipline.
  • A solid understanding of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent technologies.
  • Proficiency in systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols.
  • A proven track record in developing and implementing IT strategies and plans.
  • In-depth knowledge of best practices for helpdesk and IT operations, including security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools would be advantageous.
  • Possession of system administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network-related fields would be a plus.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% when required.
